Cormorant fishing is quite an old tradition in Guangxi province of China. But now-a-days, the fishermen use their nets and not the birds for fishing. However, some men, like the one in the photograph, have not abandoned their cormorants yet. When no fish is caught in the net, this old man buys fish from market for his pets and feeds them. The fisherman and his birds hold a strong relationship between them. I was able to capture such a candid and funny moment that also depicts his affection for the old companions.
Cormorant Fisherman

Cormorant fishing is a traditional fishing method in which fishermen use trained cormorants to fish in rivers. An aged fisherman along with his pet birds is seen as he prepares to light up his boat near the shore of Li river.
